HBO is betting big once again on the Game of Thrones universe. After the massive success of prequel series House of the Dragon (now filming its second season), HBO has announced another prequel. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight will be based on George R.R. Martin’s “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas following Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg (Aegon V, the eventual great-great-grandfather of Daenerys Targaryen). The original trio of novellas were published from 1998 to 2010, with one edition combining all three published in 2015.

The series will premiere on Max (the newly rebranded HBO Max) under the new HBO Originals banner. George R.R. Martin and Ira Parker will write and executive produce alongside executive producers Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis. There is no word yet on a premiere date.
