Beyond Freeform’s foray into a more mature television slate with the adult version of Pretty Little Liars, mermaids tail-spinning into action in Siren and runaways, Cloak & Dagger, the Disney-owned network has now added two animations to their lineup.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Woman World is the first of Freeform’s animated original series, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Aminder Dhaliwal. The narrative brings to question something that has long plagued our own minds: the power play between genders. As the female-centric world creates an alliance between women who try to survive after men have become extinct. The half-hour series with comedic undertones does not seem to be a far cry from the graphic novel with Dhaliwal writing the pilot. Supernatural’s very own redhead and lovable nerd, Felicia Day is appointed executive producer.

Taking a step away, we will be dipping into irreverent territory with the half-hour series Betches. It is the titular digital brand that started as a website and spiraled into a social media sensation and transmedia company that sees its co-founders Samantha Fishein, Jordan Abraham, and Aleen Kuperman alongside American Horror Story’s Emma Roberts as executive producers. Rachel Koller will also be writing the pilot, a narrative about three best friends and roommates that throw themselves into trouble as they paddle through the life of early adulthood New Yorkers.

While neither has not yet been officially picked up to series, meaning there is potential for it not air on our screens, with heavy-hitter names it is unlikely that Freeform will not go ahead and explore the currently uncharted animated sphere.
