Murder and intrigue run rampant in the brand new trailer for the Pretty Little Liars spin-off, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. Based on Sara Shepard’s book series of the same name, the show will premiere on Freeform next month with a few familiar faces from the original series.
Things seem way too good to be true, when both Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) and Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish) move to the seemingly perfect Beacon Heights. But when someone is murdered, it is clear things are not as perfect as they seem.
The trailer starts out with Alison flicking on the light to a basement with a voice-over saying, “Is it okay to murder a murderer?” The scene changes to her looking over Beacon Height’s perfect residents from a window while another voice adds, “Murder can be justified.” As leaves blow, wallpaper rips, and a car drives on into the dark night, things swiftly change.
First responders cover up a body impaled on top of a spiked fence while a crowd mourns and looks on. Hands clasp at a funeral, giving off vibes of the characters from Pretty Little Liars sticking together when everything goes wrong. A rat in a box with a piece of paper in its mouth calls back to the awful ways “A” would send messages and threats.
What follows in the trailer are quick glimpses of the characters and what is to come when the series premieres. One character pours a drink, while another is on the search for something using the flashlight from their phone. And then there is a quick montage of fear, shock, romance, and a bit of detective work that makes us wonder what the characters are seeing and searching for.
What danger lies ahead for Beacon Heights, and what trouble have Alison and Mona found themselves in this time? Find out when Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists premieres March 20 on Freeform!
