The Super Bowl is not only one of the biggest sporting events in the world, but it is also the best way to advertise for products and films. Apart from two Marvel films, another highly anticipated film is the newest work by Guillermo Del Toro.
Based on the comic series by Alvin Schwartz, which explored different urban legends and stories inspired by folklore, the film will star The Walking Dead‘s Austin Abrams, Zoe Colleti , and Breaking Bad‘sDean Norris, among others.
During the Super Bowl, four different teasers were broadcast showing different scenes from the movie; “The Pale Lady”, “Red Spot”, “Jangly Man” and “The Big Toe”. The teasers showed typical elements Del Toro masterfully uses to create suspense, terror and horror within just a few seconds. Del Toro recently worked on Award favourite The Shape Of Water and is known for other horror works such as Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), Crimson Peak (2015) and The Devil’s Backbone (2001).
Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark will revolve around a group of teenagers who are trying to solve the mysterious disappearances, deaths and other occurrences in their hometown and will be set in the late 1960s.
The movie is set to be released in August 2019.
