‘Roadfood’: Behind-the-Scenes Content From Rhode Island Released

0

Roadfoodies (see what I did there?), yet another behind-the-scenes look is now available for your viewing pleasure. This time, the sneak peeks of what the Roadfood cast, crew, and guests got up to are from Rhode Island. Check out the slew of new pictures here on Roadfood’s website.

A description for the behind-the-scenes photo reel can be found below.

Don’t underestimate the small state of Rhode Island!  This state has it all- beaches, vibrant cities, beautiful scenery, and of course, most importantly, FOOD!  While visiting the great state of Rhode Island we tasted all kinds of seafood and interesting dishes, but Calamari was the top on our list and it did not disappoint.  The textures, the flavors, the dips and sauces all came together for a delightful Calamari dish and we ate a lot of it.

The overall description for Roadfood‘s third episode titled “Rhode Island: Calamari” can be found below as well.

Ever heard of a state appetizer? Unless you live in Rhode Island, the answer is likely no, as this tiny state is the first — and only — to pursue this particular display of state pride. But the story of the calamari industry in Rhode Island is surprisingly rich, with many layers to bite into.

In addition to the picture reel, this page features the local restaurants that host Misha Collins and the crew visited. There is also a recipe for Rhode Island-style calamari!

Roadfood is currently available to watch on multiple platforms. If you’re not familiar with your options, make sure to check out our article on all the ways you can watch here. Additionally, two new watch options are coming soon (see here for more information). As always, stay tuned for more updates. In the meantime, make sure to check out our other content related to the show here and Roadfood’s website for additional behind-the-scenes content and other information.

Chris Evans Reuniting With ‘Knives Out’ Creative Team in New Project

0

We’re four days into the new year and the good news keeps rolling in. Chris Evans is set to star in a new film as legendary actor Gene Kelly. Deadline was first to report the news.

While still in its infant stages, Evans is re-teaming with Knives Out creator Rian Johnson and his partner in T-Street Production Ram Bergman on the original idea conceived by Evans. Evans, Mark Kassen, T-Street Production, and three-time Acadamy Award nominee John Logan will produce, with Logan also penning the script.

The film will center around a 12-year-old boy in 1952 working on the MGM lot when he begins to create an imaginary friendship with the movie star Gene Kelly.

Evans has expressed interest in doing a musical in the past, including earning a role in Little Shop of Horrors which has since been sidelined due to the pandemic since its announcement in early 2020. And yes, he can sing and tap dance!

No studio is attached at this time, but with big names like that, it won’t take long. Stay tuned for more news!

You can catch Chris Evans next in The Gray Man for Netflix and voicing the real-life hero behind the toy in Pixar’s Lightyear. Both films will premiere this summer. Production on his next venture as both actor and producer, the Apple TV+ action/romance Ghosted alongside Ana de Armas, will begin next month.

‘Cobra Kai’ Recap: Season 4, Episode 10 “The Rise”

In the season finale of Cobra Kai, more personal obstacles are faced, and some differences are set aside. The All Valley Grand Champion is named, leaving everyone reeling in the aftermath. Read on to find out what happens in “The Rise.”

Warning: Spoilers beyond this point.

Next Moves

The episode opens in a hospital, but it’s not Miguel. It’s Ray (we’ll come back to him). Miguel is fine; he just has a sore back. While he can still compete and Johnny encourages him, Miguel isn’t certain it’s the right call. A bit later, Johnny has a run-in with Kreese, who’s confident about Cobra Kai’s future. Johnny is determined to shut him down, and when he checks on Miguel again, he reiterates his earlier sentiment. Miguel has one minute to return to the mat, but he doesn’t. So, Eli advances to the finals by default. And Miguel is gone.

Meanwhile, Samantha and Robby also advance to finals. Before Robby and Eli’s match, Robby finds Kenny beating up Anthony in the locker room. He tries to talk sense into Kenny, but his effort is futile. Then it’s time for the boys’ final. Cobra Kai only needs one win for grand champs, while Miyagi-Do needs two. Eli and Robby’s match begins. They tie at 1-1 before running out of time and going into a sudden death round. Eli earns the win for Miyagi-Do.

A Victor Emerges

Miguel finds Samantha before her match, where they make amends. In another area, Amanda finds Tory, noting that Tory’s been keeping up her appointments. Amanda has one more request for Tory: fight fair during her match. With only a couple minutes to spare, Daniel approaches Johnny and asks for his help coaching. They both apologize for how they dealt with Samantha and Miguel. The match is about to start, and Samantha and Tory receive their pep talks.

During the match, Tory takes the lead. Daniel tells Samantha to follow her instincts. But when she lands a hit that should count, the ref discounts it. They continue and Samantha pins Tory, who elbows Samantha in the eye but receives no consequence. While there’s a time out, Terry tells Tory to do it again if Samantha pulls another move. Tory is skeptical, but Terry doesn’t care. Meanwhile, Kreese eyes Johnny and seems to have a bit of a crisis of conscience. The match ends, and Tory (and therefore Cobra Kai) win the tournament. Terry announces he’s franchising Cobra Kai.

When One Son Returns…

Samantha feels bad about the match, and Daniel tells her it’s okay. Carmen finds Johnny and tells him that Miguel left. Johnny blames himself, but Carmen says maybe Miguel just needs space. Later, Johnny goes to the Cobra Kai dojo, which is now empty. Robby shows up and says they’re moving to bigger and more locations. Johnny commends Robby but notices he’s quite upset and thinks it’s about the tournament. Robby tells Johnny about Kenny, and how it made him realize the pent up hate he had for Johnny and making the mistake of thinking Cobra Kai could fix it. Johnny tries to take the blame. Instead, Robby says he’s tired of blaming Johnny, and Johnny goes to hug Robby.

Johnny goes to see Carmen and sees she and her mother are upset as well. Miguel is really gone this time. He left a note reflecting on everything that’s happened with his back injury and the tournament. Though he learned a lot from Johnny, he wants to find himself and know where he came from. We then see him boarding a bus for Mexico City. He’s going to find his father. Carmen reveals Miguel’s father doesn’t know he exists. She doesn’t know what to do. Johnny promises to find Miguel and make sure he’s safe.

An Uncertain Future

The Cobra Kai kids head out to celebrate. Tory goes to grab her bag before joining them, and she overhears Terry talking to the ref about upholding a deal they made. Later at Terry’s, he and Kreese talk about the match. Kreese brings up the weakness thing again and wonders what his is. Terry says it’s Johnny Lawrence, but it’s fine because Kreese is Terry’s weakness. Kreese disagrees. He views himself as Terry’s strength, once again mentioning (you guessed it) Vietnam. Terry dismisses it this time as the police show up to arrest Kreese. We then learn Terry also made a deal with Ray: Ray can rejoin Cobra Kai if he pins the beating on Kreese, which he does when a detective visits him in the hospital.

But Terry isn’t the only one willing to keep fighting. Daniel visits Mr. Miyagi’s grave, saying there’s too much at stake to honor the deal with Cobra Kai. He wraps up by asking someone for help. When he turns, we see Chozen is with him, and he agrees to help Daniel.

Cobra Kai season 4 is streaming now on Netflix. Find the rest of our season recaps here.

‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Recap: Season 3, Episode 1 “The Big Chill”

The wait is finally over, 9-1-1: Lone Star is back! Following the events of the season 2 finale, the 126 is splintered and scattered across various temporary assignments in the wake of the closure of their firehouse. While some have accepted the reality of the situation, others (aka Marjan) refuse to give up. However, another urgent problem soon takes precedence — a dangerous winter storm has arrived in Texas.

Bad news for the 126

We open with a flashback to May, in which Owen was subject to a disciplinary hearing for punching his not-quite-deputy-chief-yet Billy. The purpose of the meeting is to determine what sort of disciplinary action Captain Strand will be subject to, but he’s more concerned about what’s going to happen to his team at the 126 now that the firehouse has been shut down. “You’re not just closing a firehouse, you’re breaking up a family.” The meeting doesn’t end on a good note, because Owen is suspended for an undetermined amount of time, the rest of the team is told to remain at their temporary postings, and … it’s revealed that Station 126 is red-tagged for demolition.

The joys of temporary postings

Captain Vega, Nancy, and T.K. are all currently working as paramedics for a company called Paragon. Captain Vega is called into a meeting with her new boss, who isn’t pleased that she didn’t up-sell unnecessary medication to a patient in the ambulance en-route to the hospital on a recent call. Ah, the wonders of working for a privately held EMS! Meanwhile, Nancy and T.K. are planning a get together for the 126, and it seems that there’s trouble in paradise for our favorite lovebirds, because T.K. is concerned about the fact that Carlos is invited.

Later, Nancy and T.K. are cleaning out the back of the blood-spattered ambulance after a harrowing but successful call (in which they rescued a man that was nearly decapitated by a chunk of ice while he was attached to the back of a pickup truck skiing). She asks him why he and Carlos broke up, but T.K. won’t tell her what happened.

Demolition day

A demolition crew is ready to get to work on tearing down the 126, but Marjan refuses to let the firehouse go. She handcuffs herself to the building and begins live streaming for her followers. Carlos shows up to arrest her, and the crew calls it quits for the day when snow flurries begin to fall on the city. As Carlos drives off with Marjan in the back of his cruiser, it appears she’s been hard at work doing things like pouring sugar in a bulldozer’s gas tank and cutting a crane’s hydraulic lines. Carlos talks about how it’s important to realize when something is over and when it’s time to move on, but is he talking about the 126 or T.K.?

Captain Strand’s pride gets in the way

The Big Chill

Marjan is annoyed when Billy is the one that bails her out of jail. She berates him for refusing to reinstate Captain Strand, and in return he shows her the real reason that Owen is still suspended. Furious, Marjan heads over to the 122 (where she’s stationed with Judd and Paul), and she tells them that Owen could have returned to work immediately if he had just signed a letter stating that his attack on Billy was “unprovoked and cowardly.” Paul and Judd don’t blame him for not wanting to swallow his pride and back down, but Marjan doesn’t agree. It doesn’t help that she’s also upset that she’s the only one still fighting to save the 126.

Despite the storm, she takes a trip to Owen’s cabin to pay him and Buttercup a visit. She tries to change his mind, but Owen reminds her that the 126 is done no matter what anyway. And he’s tired of playing the hero. Defeated, Marjan leaves, but she ends up driving into a ditch after swerving to avoid another car. Meanwhile, Owen and Buttercup find a man that has collapsed in the snow.

A dangerous collapse

Carlos responds to a call about looters at a furniture store, but when he goes to investigate, he finds that it’s just a pair of veterans trying to keep warm. He brings them to a shelter, but the building collapses soon after from the weight of the snow on the roof. This creates a huge problem for the people that had been inside, because it’s freezing out and all of the other warmer centers are filled up. Carlos has a brilliant idea, and he coordinates with the owner of the furniture store to let the displaced citizens take up refuge there for the time being.

An awkward moment ensures between former lovers when T.K. arrives on the scene, but it doesn’t last long, because Carlos realizes that one of the volunteers is missing. She’s still trapped inside the gymnasium. Judd, Paul, and Mateo are among the firefighters that are tasked with climbing through the dangerous wreckage of the building to attempt to rescue her. However, disaster strikes when another piece of the building collapses on Paul.

The next episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star will premiere on FOX on Monday, January 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Stay tuned for our continued coverage on the series, including episodic recaps and more!

‘Cobra Kai’ Recap: Season 4, Episode 9 “The Fall”

In the penultimate Cobra Kai episode of the season, the All Valley tournament begins once again. The stakes have never been higher, and everyone’s feeling the pressure. Read on to find out what happens in “The Fall.”

Warning: Spoilers beyond this point.

Competition Time

Daryl greets the crowd at All Valley. As he introduces each dojo, we see flashes of Eagle Fang, Miyagi-Do, and Cobra Kai doing their final training. Daniel, Johnny, and Terry and Kreese give their respective groups pep talks. After Johnny’s, Miguel approaches him. Miguel is a bit distracted, and Johnny says he knows why: everything that happened at prom. (Ouch, he doesn’t even remember.) Miguel doesn’t correct him as Johnny reminds him to focus.

The skills portion of the tournament begins, and each dojo starts off strong. However, the Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do kids begin to fumble. By the end, Cobra Kai leads with Miyagi-Do in second and Eagle Fang down to sixth. Daniel’s not too worried yet, but Johnny is upset. They still have a chance as Devon tells him what they need to catch up.

Qualifying Rounds

Before the qualifying rounds begin, some of the All Valley board members complain about another member — Ron. He takes the floor and introduces Carrie Underwood (much to literally everyone’s surprise). As she sings, a montage of the matches begins. So far, the results are: Eagle Fang with two advances, Miyagi-Do with three, and Cobra Kai with five. The final three matches are all Cobra Kai versus Miyagi-Do. As Cobra Kai wins each round, Daniel realizes they know Miyagi-Do karate.

Rising Tension

The quarterfinals begin as the stakes ramp up. Miguel wins, but Devon loses to Tory, costing Eagle Fang their chance to get the All Valley Girls Championship. Devon says if the right girls and Miguel wins, they still have a chance.

Daniel confronts Robby, thinking Robby teaching Miyagi-Do was his way at getting back at everyone. Robby says he did what he needed. Daniel tells him that if he doesn’t put principle first, he still loses. The message has some impact as Robby’s face betrays a tinge of guilt.

Before the next match, Kyler walks past Eli and makes a remark about his lip. Moon reminds him that Kyler’s a jerk before kissing Eli. After, Eli is rejuvenated and crushes his match against Kyler. Sam battles Piper next, using Eagle Fang techniques to gain the win. Daniel points it out, and Samantha says her way can be right, too. In the final match, it’s Cobra Kai versus Cobra Kai: Kenny versus Robby. Robby wins but feels bad when Kenny runs off. Tory stops him from following.

An Old Problem Resurfaces

Semifinals are next, but first, Daniel commends Miguel on a Miyagi-Do technique he used in a match. Johnny approaches them, and he and Daniel snark at each other about the influences they have on the other’s students. Soon, the first match begins — Eli versus Miguel. It goes like any other match until partway through, Miguel gets mid-kick and hurts his back. When he hits the mat, he yells out for Johnny, barely able to move.

Cobra Kai season 4 is streaming now on Netflix. Keep up with our season recaps here.
