Disney Pixar’s ‘Lightyear’ Trailer Has Landed!
To infinity and beyond! The first trailer for Disney Pixar’s upcoming Toy Story origin story, Lightyear, is finally here!
Announced in December of last year, Lightyear stars Chris Evans as the voice of the astronaut Buzz Lightyear. However, the actor was quick to correct just what version of Buzz he’d be playing, and it isn’t Tim Allen’s. Evans will be taking on the mantle of the real-life astronaut the popular children’s toy was based on. Which can only mean Buzz likely takes on quite the heroic task up in the great beyond. And Evans is no stranger to playing a hero, so we’re more than likely in very capable hands.
“The phrase ‘a dream come true’ gets thrown around a lot, but I’ve never meant it more in my life,” says Evans. “Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can’t believe that I get to be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories unlike anyone else. Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day.”
So no, this is not a replacement of Tim Allen as Buzz, just another rendition. So far, Evans is the only confirmed cast member. This is Pixar’s first-ever spin-off story.
The only details of the plot we know are the film is set to reveal how a young test pilot became the Space Ranger that we all know him to be today.
Also reported earlier this week, Disney Pixar films will be returning to exclusive theatrical releases in 2022. Turning Red will start the year off on March 11, 2022.
Lightyear will release in theaters on June 17, 2022.
