Audible’s ‘1984’ Finds Its Voice With Andrew Garfield

Audible has brought George Orwell’s classic 1984 to a modern audience with their new audio drama. Written by Joe White and directed by Destiny Ekaragha, 1984 will arrive on the Audible streaming platform on April 4.

This audio cast of 1984 is stacked with huge names like the talented and award-winning Andrew Garfield. Garfield uses his vocal talents to bring the character of Winston Smith to life. Joining Garfield will be the unmistakable voice of Tom Hardy as the intimidating Big Brother. Alongside these two powerhouses are Romesh Ranganathan playing Parsons, Cynthia Erivo as Julia, Andrew Scott voicing O’Brien, and Natasia Demetriou playing Mrs. Parsons.

1984 will feature a new original score created by Composer Ilan Eshkeri and Matt Bellamy. Bellamy is the leader of the alternative rock band Muse. This is a perfect pairing because Bellamy is a huge 1984 fan as apparent through several references to the classic work in many of the band’s songs.

With such a stellar cast paired with a heartfelt score George Orwell’s 1984 is sure to continue its legacy with today’s audio drama listeners on Audible.
