Audible Announces New Audio Original ‘Slayers: A Buffyverse Story’

Slayers: A Buffyverse Story is the first Audible original that takes place in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe. Set to Premiere October 12, this story will take place ten years after the events of the Buffy finale. Bringing back original cast members to reprise their roles, this audio story is sure to raise the Buffy fandom from the dead.

Slayers: A Buffyverse Story was written by original cast member Amber Benson alongside writer Christopher Golden. The duo also serve as directors alongside Kc Wayland. The talented group came together to bring long-time fans a fresh new story filled with the same heart, humor, and horror they loved from the show. After being apart for 20 years this new story will bring together old fan favorites like James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary, and Danny Strong. Since this is the Buffyverse, I am sure a few surprises are in store as well.

Meeting up with our favorite heroes ten years after the final episode, we find Spike undercover in Los Angeles. Having convinced the powers that be he is up to his old tricks, Spike soon finds his cover is in danger of being blown. When fate brings Spike face to face with a young slayer named Indire Nunnally, voiced by Laya DeLeon Hayes, he can’t help but look out for the girl. Spike takes on babysitting duty while attempting to find a watcher for the eager new do-gooder. While on the search, they cross paths with a veteran slayer except this is no Buffy Summers. This slayer comes from a reality where Buffy never existed, and the one and only slayer is none other than Cordelia Chase. Cordy calls on the reformed vampire to help with a classic big bad she is facing that goes by a name very familiar to Spike, Drusilla.

James Marsters was quoted as saying, “I’m ecstatic to be back with my dear friends for this next chapter in the Buffyverse, as we take listeners on a familiar but unexpected journey chock full of horror, passion, and mischief. I’m excited for old and new fans to experience this beloved world of vampire slaying like never before, brought to life through immersive audio storytelling.”

Alongside this exciting new story, fans will have the opportunity to further immerse themselves in the Buffyverse at New York Comic Con. This year, there will be a killer Slayers: A Buffyverse Story panel on Friday, October 13 at 1:30 p.m. EST. Fans can also visit Audible’s Slayers-themed activation all weekend long.

The title is currently available for pre-order on their official website here.
