Interview: Finn Balor Talks Preparation for Seth Rollins SummerSlam Match, Favorite Beatles Album

Over the weekend, Nerds & Beyond was on-site for SummerSlam media coverage. At the press junket on Friday, Finn Balor chatted with Nerds & Beyond Editor Haley. Balor talked about his preparation for his title match against Seth Rollins, the viral Abbey Road Judgment Day photo, and his favorite Beatles album.

Nerds & Beyond: You have a big match against Seth Rollins this weekend for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. You guys have a lot of history together one that extends to SummerSlam as you wrestled for the Universal title at SummerSlam 2016. Are you going to approach this match differently given how well you two know each other in the ring?

Finn Balor: I approach every match in the exact same way. It’s just a match. The bell will ring and about 20 minutes later the bell will ring again and it will be over. You can’t go into a match with any different approach. For me it’s just another day at the office. Obviously myself and Seth have a lot of history.

And I’m sure that emotion will come to the surface at SummerSlam, but right now, my mind needs to be on preparation and focus and that’s the way I’m approaching this match.

Nerds & Beyond: I did want to ask you about the infamous Beatles Judgment Day photo that was posted to social media. I know you’re a big fan of the Beatles. Did you guys plan that out beforehand? Or was it just kind of natural? Like you just fell into step?

Finn Balor: Yeah! It was an idea the Judgment Day and the office had. We kind of collaborated on that photo. They got us sent out to the location the morning of Money in the Bank. And when we’re on the car ride over to Abbey Road, we discussed who would be who and the rest is history. You’ve seen what happened, and there’s not much more to it.

Nerds & Beyond: Before I let you go I have to ask, what is your favorite Beatles album?

Finn Balor: I would say … I like Yellow Submarine.

Nerds & Beyond: That’s a solid choice. I really thought you were going to say Abbey Road.

Finn Balor: [Laughs].
