Insomniac Games have announced the release date for their anticipated 2023 sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which recently unveiled an impressive gameplay trailer during the PlayStation Showcase.
Being built from the ground up for the newest PlayStation means the game will see a large set of improvements over the 2018 and 2020 installments, Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, including faster web swinging, near-instant character switching, and better visuals. The sequel will give players the opportunity to take advantage of the larger map, which now includes Brooklyn and Queens, as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they face iconic villains such as Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and Lizard. Both Peter and Miles have story missions exclusive to them, and both are featured as the main protagonists in the story. Artwork also showcases the new abilities each protagonist will showcase in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Peter taking on the symbiote, and Miles having evolved bioelectric Venom powers.
The game will be available to pre-order June 16 at 10 a.m. local time in participating retailers, the PlayStation Store, or PlayStation Direct.
Of course, pre-ordering the game will come with bonuses. Pre-ordering any version of the game will receive an early unlock Arachknight Suit with three color variants for Peter, an early unlock Shadow Spider suit with three color variants for Miles, an early unlock Web Grabber gadget, and three skill points to start the game with. The standard edition will be $69.99 USD.
The Digital Deluxe edition will include the game, all pre-order bonuses, plus 10 additional suits (five for Peter, five for Miles), additional stickers and frames in Photo Mode, and two additional skill points. The 10 unique suits designed by guest artists pulled from comics, films, and PlayStation Studios, including Kris Anka, Julia Blattman, Sweeney Boo, Anthony Francisco, Raf Grassetti, Jerad Maantz, Joel Mandish, Darren Quach, and Victoria Ying.
The Digital Deluxe edition will be $79.99 USD.
And finally, if the Standard and Digital Deluxe editions of the game just aren’t quite enough, there will also be a Collector’s Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This package comes with a voucher for the game, a steelbook case, and a stunning statue of both Spider-Men taking on fan-favorite villain Venom. The Collector’s Edition will be available through PlayStation direct in United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, Spain, Portugal, and will be priced at $229.99 USD.
Countries that do not currently have access to PlayStation Direct should hold tight for future announcements as to where the Collector’s Edition can be ordered.
