Past Becomes Present in ‘Kindred’ Official Trailer

Share:

Just over a week after releasing the first teaser, FX has shared the official trailer for its upcoming series Kindred. The Octavia E. Butler adaptation is set to release next month, and the trailer promises an intense ride to come.

Kindred centers on Dana (Mallori Johnson), a modern Black woman who’s pulled into the antebellum South to save a young white boy, Rufus (David Alexander Kaplan), who’s also the son of a plantation owner. While she initially returns to her time, she continues to be pulled back, with each stay growing dangerously longer each time.

Like the teaser, the trailer showcases Dana’s plight and how it affects the world around her. This time around, viewers get a little more comprehensive look at where Dana keeps going to and shows more of the people she will encounter. It also gives a greater look at Kevin (Micah Stock) as he tries to help Dana the best he can.

Kindred is adapted, showrun, and executive produced by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Addtional stars include Ryan Kwanten, Gayle Rankin, Austin Smith, Sophina Brown, and Sheria Irving. Joe Weisberg, Joel Fields, Darren Aronofsky, Ari Handel of Protozoa Pictures, Courtney Lee-Mitchell, Jules Jackson, and Ernestine Walker. Janicza Bravo directed and executive produced the pilot. FX Productions produced.

Kindred premieres on December 13 exclusively on Hulu. Find our NYCC panel highlights for the show here, and watch the new trailer below:
