‘Venom’ Writer and Producer Kelly Marcel Set to Direct Third Film

Earlier this year, Sony confirmed that another Venom film is in the works. Now, we’ve learned that Kelly Marcel — a writer and producer for the first two — is set to to direct the third film.

The Venom film franchise is based on the Marvel Comics character Eddie Brock, portrayed by Tom Hardy, a journalist who accidentally discovers that he’s an ideal host for an alien symbiote, Venom.

Plot details for the third Venom film are currently still under wraps. While Venom: Let There Be Carnage saw the introduction of a new threat (the symbiote Carnage and its host, serial killer Cletus Kasady), the last time audiences actually saw Eddie Brock and Venom was during the mid-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Marcel and Hardy are both set to produce this upcoming installment and have jointly crafted the story. Marcel will also write the screenplay. Additional producers include Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker.

This news was first reported by Deadline.
