Interview: Jake Lacy Talks ‘Significant Other’

The premiere of Paramount’s romantic thriller Significant Other is officially here, and Nerds and Beyond caught up with one of the film’s stars, Jake Lacy!

Significant Other stars internet coined modern Scream Queen Maika Monroe and Lacy. In the film, a young couple travels through the woods of the Pacific North West on a remote backpacking trip. Things are not as they appear, as something sinister lurking in the shadows makes them realize they aren’t alone.

Lacy’s character, Harry, is a charismatic, romantic character. When asked his initial thoughts about the role, he loved the parallels of his How To Be Single character, Ken, but turning him psycho. Ultimately, the fact it mixes horror with comedy was a “bizarro cocktail” he couldn’t pass up on.

When asked if he feels there’s a takeaway when watching a film like this, Lacy told Nerds and Beyond to “watch out for aliens.” Lacy goes on to say he hopes audiences get drawn in and they’re along for the ride.

Significant Other is a bit of a curveball film with all types of twists and turns; Lacy gives his three best words to describe the film that encompasses what audiences are really in for: beautiful, bizarre, and thrilling. We’d say that’s as accurate as it comes.

Significant Other is available on Paramount+ now. Check out our review of the movie here.
