It has been a little while since fans of the Grishaverse have gotten a new story to get excited about. Leigh Bardugo is ending the drought by releasing the first graphic novel in the Grishaverse titled, Demon In The Wood. To add to today’s excitement, it was announced that a certain Darkling himself, Ben Barnes, would be narrating the audiobook!
Demon In The Wood is a prequel that will take readers back earlier than the events of Shadow and Bone. This graphic novel will transport us to a war-torn Ravka, where we will meet a young Darkling. Readers will see what life was like for the Darkling before he chose the name Kirigan, and began his rise through the ranks to general. How can this young man choose to use his powers to help the Grisha that live in secret? This choice will no doubt shape the future of the Darkling’s world forever.
October is when readers will be able to get their hands on the highly anticipated graphic novel. Alongside the book will be Barnes leading a full cast audio recording. Viewers of Netflix’s hit show, Shadow and Bone, will be very familiar with Barnes as he plays General Kirigan on the series. Barnes has a voice that will easily transport listeners to Ravka’s snow-covered mountains as we follow the Darkling’s journey. Barnes has lent his voice to several other audiobooks in the past and always does a beautiful job.
