Stephen King’s ‘The Institute’ Series Finds Its Lead with Ben Barnes

Share

Ben Barnes and Mary-Louise Parker have been cast in the new MGM thriller series The Institute. This new show is based on the popular book of the same name written by Stephen King and is sure to have chills running down our spines.

The series will follow a kidnapped young boy named Luke Ellis. After being taken, Luke awakens to find himself in a place surrounded by other children who are gifted like him. Luke’s storyline intertwines with Barnes’ character Tim Jamieson. Tim has recently arrived in town looking for a fresh start and sinks into a mundane routine. His simple life as a night watchman is soon shattered by the disappearance of Luke. This development lights a fire under Tim and gives him a purpose. While Barnes seems to be playing the hero in this series it looks like Mary-Louise Parker will be his antagonist. Parker will play Ms. Sigsby the director of the institute. A charming personality paired with a headstrong attitude will undoubtedly cause a challenge for Tim. Like many unsavory characters, Ms. Sigsby sees her work at the institute as good and worth the cost.

The Institute is being led by director Jack Bender. Bender will also serve as executive producer beside writer Benjamin Cavell. The eight-episode series should begin shooting later this year!
