‘The Boys’ Season 3 Trailer Release Date Confirmed
Hold on to your pants, people, because the wait is almost over for the long-awaited season 3 trailer of Prime Video’s deliciously diabolical superhero series The Boys. Thanks to the pandemic, the slated 2021 return of the show was delayed until this year, so fans have been understandably chomping at the bit for content of our favorite vigilantes and wayward Supes.
Now, we finally have confirmation that the first trailer is coming tomorrow, March 12! The release of the trailer coincides with SXSW’s The Boys panel, which will feature showrunner Eric Kripke and several members of the cast.
A poster for season 3 featuring Billy Butcher dropped yesterday, all but confirming that we’ll likely see Butcher (and possibly the rest of the Boys) turn to Compound V in order to level the playing field against the Supes this upcoming season — something that was a regular occurrence in the comics.
For what it’s worth, The Boys official Twitter account has had a few exchanges with the band Imagine Dragons since the release of the aforementioned poster, including sharing a poster of their own. Perhaps we’ll get more answers on that front tomorrow …
The Boys is based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The show is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes — who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods — abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as the Boys continue on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought — the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets.
The show stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capone, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, and more. Claudia Doumit and Colby Minifie were promoted to series regulars for this upcoming season.
The cast will be growing with plenty of new additions in season 3, including Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, Laurie Holden as Crimson Countess, Katia Winter as Little Nina, Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic, Sean Patrick Flanery as Gunpowder, Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk, Frances Turner as M.M.’s wife Monique, and Kristin Booth and Jack Doolan as the TNT Twins.
The first three episodes of season 3 of The Boys will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on June 3. The show will then switch one episode per week on Fridays for episodes 4 through 8. Stay tuned for our episodic recaps, reviews, and more!
