It’s a scream, baby.

This article contains spoilers for Scream (2022).

Following the massive success of this year’s requel Scream, which has earned over $100 million globally, Paramount and Spyglass have decided to return to Woodsboro for a terrifying sixth installment to the franchise. The creative team behind 2022’s Scream is returning, with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directing and James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick returning to pen the script. Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak will produce with Kevin Williamson, Chad Villella, Gary Barber, and Peter Oillataguerre as executive producers.

The Scream franchise celebrated its 25-anniversary last December and was successfully rebooted by the 2022 fifth installment. Scream (2022) is the first movie to release for the franchise following the passing of horror giant and Scream co-creator Wes Craven. The movie brought back the golden trio of horror characters with Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, and David Arquette as Dewey Riley, but also took the opportunity to grasp new beginnings and bring in a talented wave of young actors for their new cast: Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Dylan Minnette.

Casting has yet to be confirmed for the sixth installment, but considering not all of the new and returning cast members made it through the events of Scream (2022), it’s obvious that not all of the characters we know and love will be returning.

Production is currently slated to begin this summer. You can find our coverage for Scream (2022) here, including a compilation of the Easter eggs and references in the newest installment.
