Directed by Chloé Zhao, Eternals is Marvel Studios’ latest blockbuster, introducing an intriguing new team to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Eternals are a group of heroes from beyond the stars. They’ve protected Earth since the dawn of man but have since disbanded and sought out their own quiet lives amongst humans. However, when the monstrous Deviants that they were tasked with eliminating mysteriously return, the Eternals must reunite to defend humanity once again.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

As the film came to an end, three of the Eternals — Thena, Makkari, and Druig — parted ways with the rest of the team, intent on seeking out others of their kind to tell them about the disturbing true nature of their existence. Little did they know that meanwhile, the Celestial Arishem had snatched up Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos to dole out judgement and punishment for what they did to Tiamut in order to save planet Earth.

The film’s mid-credits scene found the trio traveling through space on the Eternals’ ship, the Domo. Without warning, a troll named Pip appeared, followed by Zhao’s surprise new addition to the MCU — Harry Styles as the Eternal Eros. Also known as the great adventurer Starfox, he’s the Royal Prince of Titan, the brother of Thanos, the Knave of Hearts, and the defeater of Black Roger. Eros warned Thena, Makkari, and Druig that their friends were in danger. He then revealed that he was in possession of the same sphere that Ajak (and Sersi) used to communicate with Arishem and that he knew where to find them.

In order to give audiences a chance to experience the unexpected surprise of Styles’ introduction to the MCU in theaters, Marvel has remained relatively quiet on the matter. However, all bets are now off, because an official poster of Styles as Eros has finally been revealed!

Check it out below.

In an interview with Deadline, Zhao revealed that she had been keeping tabs on Styles as an actor since Dunkirk, and after meeting him, she felt that she saw “so much of Eros” in him.

At this time, concrete plans for the future of the Eternals have not yet been announced by Marvel, but the credits did state that they will return. In the meantime, we speculated about what we can expect to see in a sequel, including the return of Eros!

Eternals is now playing in theaters. Make sure to check out our review. And for fans of Styles, catch up on our staff photographers’ coverage of Love On Tour here.
