‘Hawkeye’: New Clip Features Nod to Clint Barton’s Dodge Challenger

As a part of Marvel Studios’ 14-minute long 2021 Disney+ Day Special, which is now available to watch on the streaming service, a chunk of new footage from the upcoming series Hawkeye has been revealed.

Early on, when the first teasers for Hawkeye began to drop, fans were on the look out for Easter eggs, especially ones from Matt Fraction and David Aja’s critically acclaimed 2012 comic series. And while a familiar looking vehicle was shown in a car chase scene, Clint and Kate were shown driving a far less flashy ride.

This latest clip returns to show a better look at the on-screen version of Clint’s iconic wheels from the comics — a ’70s Dodge Challenger, which is known as Cherry. As they’re looking to make a hasty getaway, Kate is enamored by the vehicle. Clint, however, proceeds to break into a different vehicle as he gripes, “I’m not smashing a ’72 Challenger. Come on.”

In the comics, Clint purchases the car from a mysterious woman named Cherry, who’s the wife of a member of the Tracksuit Mafia. Given that the Tracksuit Mafia are seen driving the Challenger in the car chase, we can only hope to see the vehicle fall into Clint’s hands eventually in the show.

Another clip from the series was also shared on Good Morning America today.

Hawkeye is set in post-Blip New York City, where former Avenger Clint Barton aka Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. But when a threat from his past shows up, Hawkeye reluctantly teams up with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), a 22-year-old skilled archer and his biggest fan, to unravel a criminal conspiracy.

The series is helmed by Rhys Thomas and directed by Bert and Bertie. Additional cast members include Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian dā€™Arcy James, and Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez.

The first two episodes of Hawkeye will debut exclusively on Disney+ on November 24. Stay tuned for our extended coverage of the series, which will include theories, reviews, episodic recaps, and more!
