‘Wonka’: Timothée Chalamet Shares First Look as Eccentric Candymaker

Production is underway for Warner Bros. and the Roald Dahl Story Co.’s upcoming prequel film, Wonka. Fans received a first look at Timothée Chalamet as the famous candymaker Willy Wonka on October 10.

While there are currently multiple adaptations of the characters pulled from the beloved 1964 Roald Dahl novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this film aims to take a different approach. Wonka will center around the eccentric candy inventor Willy Wonka, with Chalamet bringing a younger look to the character than viewers have seen in the past. Wonka will serve as a prequel, following Wonka in his younger years before his chocolate factory dreams came true.

Chalamet is onscreen next for Dune on October 22, as well as Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Netflix’s Don’t Look Up.
