After acquiring the Roald Dahl Story Company back in September 2021, Netflix has confirmed that their upcoming adaptation of Dahl’s book The Twits is slated to hit the streaming service in 2025.

This is one of three currently announced adaptations of Dahl’s stories for Netflix. Others include the upcoming Wes Anderson short The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and an animated reimagining of Dahl’s perennial favorite Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The Twits will see Katie Shanahan and Todd Demong as co-directors along with Oscar-nominee behind Ralph Breaks the Internet, Phil Johnston. Johnston is also writing the script with Meg Favreau and producing alongside Maggie Malone.

Following the nasty Mr. and Mrs. Twit, owners of the disgusting and dangerous amusement park, Twitlandia, The Twits will tell the story of their ultimate downfall. When they gain power in their town, the Twits cause trouble for everyone. So two brave orphans team up with a family of magical animals to become as tricky as the Twits to save their city.

The deals for this film were made prior to the ongoing strikes, and this film is covered under the Animation Guild contract.
