‘This Is Us’ Closes the Family Scrapbook With Season 6

We weren’t quite introduced to the Pearsons through a family scrapbook perched between ours where its decorative pages were soaked with photos telling of the Big Three. Rather, it was a transformative pilot episode airing on NBC back in the year of 2016 that brought us all together.

With portrayals such as the bookish bad boy on Gilmore Girls, it was the spotting of a mustache on Milo Ventimiglia that made his role in This Is Us different. Jack Pearson would go on to be the heartbeat of his family, made up of wife Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and children Kate (Chrissy Metz), Kevin (Justin Hartley), and Randall (Sterling K. Brown).

Merged between episodes which would pass to seasons, its past, present, and inevitable future format presented a way to know these characters’ wants and fears intimately. Therefore, with The Hollywood Reporter’s announcement of season 6 wrapping up its narrative, we know there’s about to be a Pearson-sized hole in all our hearts. Its final season will play out across approximately 18 episodes, with its series finale airing around this time next year.
