Louden Swain Releases New Single ‘Basement of No Hope’
Today’s the day! Louden Swain’s new single, “Basement of No Hope,” is officially released. The single is available at 12 a.m. local time and officially available currently on the east coast. The band made the decision in January 2021, after a year composed of canceled shows, events, and quarantine, to make a goal to release a single a month this year.
As Swain puts it on their website, “…release a single per month for as many months [editors note: they say 10] as it took until they were able to get back on the road and support what will eventually become their next full length release.”
Thus, “Basement of No Hope” was born. As some Louden Swain fans know, this is a direct reference to a video from 2018, where the band (plus Jason Manns) battled it out for who got to stay in this dark basement (Rob eventually lost).
Louden Swain describes the song as, “…uniquely Louden Swain – lots of guitars lead by Billy Moran and Benedict, driving drums courtesy of Stephen Norton, thumping bass from Michael Borja, and the trademark lyrical wit and engaging vocal performance from Benedict – elements which have been staples of their 9 albums and 20 plus years together. It’s an anthemic piece reminiscent of the 80’s but with a distinctly modern feel.”
