Aye, Sassenach! — ‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and More Receive Saturn Award Nominations!

The 46th Annual Saturn Awards nominations are upon us, honoring film and television series that were released/aired between July 15, 2019 and November 15, 2020. The Saturn Awards organization is the official awards group of The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films, a non-profit organization founded in 1972.
Coming in with a total of five nominations is the epic fantasy romance series Outlander. Based on the beloved and gripping book series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander begins in the year 1945, following a married combat nurse named Claire (Caitriona Balfe) who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. Thrown into an unknown world, Claire meets the chivalrous and charming Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and is thrown into a whirlwind of drama, battles, and passionate romance. The show’s sixth season is currently in production.
Outlander received a Saturn Award nomination in the Best Fantasy Television Series category, up against other contenders that include The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, For All Mankind, Locke & Key, The Magicians, The Twilight Zone, and The Witcher.
And that’s not all! Four of the show’s talented lead actors received individual nominations as well:
Sam Heughan for Best Actor on a Television Series
Caitriona Balfe for Best Actress on a Television Series
Richard Rankin for Best Supporting Actor on a Television Series
Sophie Skelton for Best Supporting Actress on a Television Series
Stay tuned, as a date has not yet been set for the 2021 Saturn Awards ceremony, which will be held later this year.
