‘Walker’ and Jared Padalecki Fans Come Together To Raise Money for Texas

Walker fans came together last week to help raise money for Texas, which was under a devastating winter storm with freezing temperatures, ice, and in a lot of cases — without power or heat.

WalkerWiki brainstormed and decided that since they had purchased a shirt from the Supernatural props and wardrobe auction, they would use that to encourage donations to local charities around Texas that would go towards helping those in need.

They offered a random draw for anyone that sent them a screenshot of their receipt or confirmation of a $10 donation to any Texas aid or relief. They provided a thread of suggestions, and also amplified the ones shared by Jared and Gen Padalecki.

Not only did they do that, but the couple behind WalkerWiki also sent out thank you cards and pledged to donate $1 for every person that donated. It was also encouraged to donate in honor of Jared, who not only lives in Austin, Texas but also stars in Walker, which is filmed in Austin.

The donations didn’t stop there though; more fans are offering things to encourage donating to those in need. There’s another fan page that’s offering Walker car clings they made to encourage donating, and Stands is also donating a portion of the proceeds from Jared Padalecki’s items in their shop (as well as giving items away) to Genesis Women’s Shelter which provides “safety, shelter and support for women who have experienced domestic violence.” They also had some damage due to the storm. Lisa Berry and Kim Rhodes also offered zoom calls to those who donated.

Fans have really come together to donate. At the time of reporting, WalkerWiki reported over $5,300 has been raised and donated to places such as Feeding Texas, Austin Mutual Aid, Austin Area Urban League, Austin Pets Alive, Genesis Women’s Shelter, Out Youth Austin, and more.

One thing is for sure, never doubt the power of fandom.
