An ancient prophecy … it tells of a witch who will change the destiny of all creatures … will alter our understanding of life …
The wait is finally over, the official trailer for the second season of A Discovery of Witches is here!
A Discovery of Witches is based on the All Souls trilogy by author Deborah Harkness, named after the first book in the series. The show follows Diana Bishop (who is portrayed by Teresa Palmer), a historian who also happens to be a (very reluctant) witch. Diana’s life is flipped upside down when she accidentally stumbles across a long-lost bewitched alchemical manuscript, which in turn entangles her in a looming family legacy that she’s spent most of her life ignoring — the world of magic. Enter mysterious geneticist Matthew Clairmont (Matthew Goode), who also happens to be a vampire. The two form an alliance, despite the age-old taboo on the fraternization of witches and vampires, which blossoms into something more as they fight to escape the looming threats from the creature world.
The final episode of season 1 found Matthew and Diana on the run, fleeing to Elizabethan London in the 1500s thanks to Diana’s newly discovered timewalker abilities. Now, Diana and Matthew must find the Book of Life, along with a teacher for Diana’s budding magical abilities.
