The first official trailer for the latest adaption of Frank Herbert’s 1965 science fiction novel Dune has finally landed.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049), Dune follows the story of a young royal, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), who finds himself struggling after his family departs their native planet of Caladan to oversee a spice mining operation on the deadly and dangerous Arrakis. His parents are Duke Leto and Lady Jessica, portrayed by Oscar Isaac and Rebecca Ferguson, respectively.

The rest of Dune’s all-star cast includes the likes of Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster.

The world of Dune is complex and robust, and has proven to be a difficult one to bring from the page to the screen in the past; this isn’t the first adaption to make the rounds in the decades since the novel was published, after all. However, we have high hopes for this adaption and are incredibly excited to see Villeneuve’s latest take on this epic space opera.

Dune is set to premiere on December 18.
