Toshiko Sato and Ianto Jones Fight Aliens at The Opera in ‘Torchwood: Dinner and a Show’
Toshiko Sato and Ianto Jones are back for a new adventure in Big Finish’s Torchwood: Monthly Range!
Naoko Mori and Gareth David-Lloyd reprise their roles from the television series in a brand new audio drama called Torchwood: Dinner and a Show. They are joined by Rhys ap William (Ilmatar) and John Rutledge (Wallfisch). The audio drama is written by Gareth David-Lloyd, directed by Scott Handcock and produced by James Goss. In this story, Toshiko and Ianto investigate aliens in the Cardiff opera on Valentine’s Day:
It’s February 14 and Owen is a no-show for Toshiko’s not-Valentine’s-Valentine’s Night at the opera.
Worse, when Ianto turns up he has bad news for Toshiko, for Cardiff and for fans of classical music – the opera is full of aliens. The doors are bolted, there’s no way out, and this could be the final curtain…
Writer and actor, Gareth David-Lloyd said: “There wasn’t much interaction between Ianto and Tosh in the series, so I wanted to fix that. We were probably the quieter ones, more private, so I thought it would be nice for them to have a little buddy story. “I always felt Tosh went through quite a lot of physical and mental abuse in these audios, and indeed the TV show. So I wanted to do one that was a bit more fun for Tosh, a bit lighter.”
Actor Naoko Mori added: “I loved the story. I read it in one go. I think Gareth is so talented and so funny. Ianto usually has the best one-liners and he captures that so well in this script.”
Torchwood: Dinner and a Show is now available to own as a CD edition and as a download on Big Finish’s website. Listeners can save money by purchasing a six-release bundle or all 12 Torchwood stories.
