Disney Releases Classic Retro Edition Games

Diehard fans of the old school gaming consoles SNES and the Sega Genesis are in for a treat. Disney has released the Retro Edition of their classic games Aladdin and The Lion King, courtesy of co-publisher and distributor Nighthawk Interactive, which are available to buy exclusively in the U.S at Best Buy.

Along with the Nintendo Switch version of the game, the Retro Editions include a color game manual and an exclusive poster. For the Genesis fans, the Retro Edition comes encased in a clamshell, and for the SNES loyalist it’s available in a box.

Aladdin and The Lion King have been updated for current consoles and PC by Digital Eclipse and Nighthawk Interactive and also contain new features.

The new features have authentic game content but with modern improvements like upscaled graphics, customizable controls, save states, and special filters for visual enhancements.

The collection includes playable versions of the games for multiple platforms including Sega Genesis, Game Boy, and Super Game Boy.

The new feature “A Helping Hand” contains an Interactive Game Viewer, which lets you watch playthroughs of the game with the option to jump in at any point and play, and also has a Rewind feature and contains cheat codes for invulnerability and infinite lives.

Disney has also included Curated, Explorable Museum, which has a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes assets including interviews, music player, and an art gallery so you can fully experience the history behind the original 16-bit versions of the Aladdin and The Lion King games.

The Retro Edition collection is also available for PlaySation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
