We’re Heading to the Jungle With a “Legends of the Hidden Temple” Reboot

Legends of the Hidden Temple is back! Well, not yet, but it’s coming! An upcoming streaming platform, Quibi, is teaming up with Nickelodeon and Stone & Company Entertainment to bring the show back to our screens.

What’s new? For starters, instead of kids, the show will focus on adult contestants. The production team is well aware that their initial target audience has grown up and they seem more than willing to grow right along with us. Second, it seems we’re no longer going to be in a perfectly controlled environment, because instead of being shot in a studio, we’re heading to the jungle! Our third big change is where we can watch. Quibi describes themselves as a “short-form mobile video platform,” which means their content will run, most likely, an average of 10 or so minutes and will be readily available on their app for on-the-go entertainment.

What’s the same? A few things. As I mentioned previously, Nickelodeon and Stone & Company (previously Stone Stanley Productions) are once again joining forces to aid in producing the content. Most importantly, though — at least to its audience — we will see the return of Olmec, the Moat Crossing challenge, and the Temple Run.

The show gets its official reboot four years after it returned to our screens as a movie in 2016, directed by Joe Menendez and starring Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight). Quibi is scheduled to launch on April 6, 2020 after being founded in 2018 by Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Welcome to the jungle, baby!
