From writer/director Noah Baumbach, Marriage Story starring Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) and Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame) is heading to Netflix on December 6.

Marriage Story takes us on a journey of heartbreak and love through a divorce between a stage director (Driver) and his actor wife (Johansson) as they navigate their crumbling relationship, parenthood, and finding themselves once again. Penned as honest, heart-wrenching, and “utterly humane” by critics, this has the potential to be one of the best projects for all involved. The film boasts impressive reviews and numbers from the numerous film festivals it’s traveled to, making it one you should add to your watch list when it arrives to the streaming titan next month.

In Johansson’s Variety Studio: Actors on Actors with Chris Evans that was released earlier this month, she dove into some details about the film and the evolution of the story from concept to final product with Baumbach. Evans himself also boasted about the film, calling it “phenomenal” and showering praises to both Johansson and Driver. “You guys both need Oscars,” Evans stated, before going on to commend the performers on making the scripted lines appear so natural. He went on to say, “You guys both need Oscars, because I was like, ‘Oh, this is improvised.’ It’s like theater.”

You can catch Marriage Story on Netflix December 6. In addition, Driver’s final run as Kylo Ren begins December 20 in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and Johansson can also be seen in Taika Waititi’s World War II comedy Jojo Rabbit, in theaters now.
