“Part of the journey, is the end.”

We are only a few short weeks away from the premiere of Avengers: Endgame. And as the release date approaches and we reach the end of this journey, we want to look back on everything that brought us here. The heroes we watched struggle, grow, and save humanity over the last ten years and our favorite moments of their stories. We will be going through each phase in order, covering every movie leading up to April 26.

Next up in our series is The Incredible Hulk. This film was released in 2008, and at the time Edward Norton was portraying Bruce Banner instead of Mark Ruffalo.

Here are our favorite moments from The Incredible Hulk:

I have two favorite moments in this film. First, the obvious Stan Lee cameo where he drinks the soda bottle that Bruce Banner’s blood touched, resulting in him getting gamma ray sickness. It is not a Marvel movie for me until I see the iconic Stan Lee. The first Marvel movie without him is going to be hard. After the battle between Hulk and Blonsky as the abomination comes my other favourite moment, when Betty walks up to the Hulk and he reaches out gently and wipes her tears before saying her name. This stands out to me because the Hulk is described as this uncontrollable force, but Bruce was able to have a lucid moment where he was the one in control of the anger. – Sarah

This is probably the Marvel film I’ve seen the least amount of times, mainly because I watched The Avengers first and couldn’t imagine another actor other than Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. Norton brings a different nuance to the character, which I discovered upon re-watching the film. The way he is portrayed in the film shows a bit more about the character’s background and also the fact that The Hulk is not just a raging monster which “smashes”, but is able to strategize and plan. If I had to pick a favorite scene, it is probably the final fight scene where Banner faces the people who created The Hulk and manages to fight them off, showing them what they have done to him as a person. – Conny

One of the things I really love about The Incredible Hulk are the action sequences and how they show the Hulk’s emotions. My favorite is when the military is fighting him on the grounds of the university. This scene really shows that he still has the intelligence of Bruce Banner, even after he changes. We see targeted attacks against the weapons that are doing him the most harm, strategic use of vehicle parts as shields, and then his love as he protects Betty from harm. Watching Bruce struggle with the language barrier in Brazil is very entertaining. I also enjoyed when Betty yells at the taxi driver. In a movie that is fairly dark and action packed, I do love the bits of humor. – Heather

Stay tuned as we look back on all our favorite moments from the Marvel Universe as we anticipate what lies ahead for our heroes in Avengers: Endgame.
