I have been really impressed with Jared Padalecki‘s performances this season on Supernatural. Apparently, I’m not the only one, because SpoilerTV.com has added him to the list of contenders for January’s “Readers’ Choice Performer of the Month,” specifically for this season’s twelfth episode, “Prophet and Loss.” Supernatural fans will remember this as the episode where Sam and Castiel try to talk Dean out of sacrificing himself to rid the world, and his mind, of the archangel Michael.
Sam struggled the entire episode to contain his emotions until the end, where he stumbled between anger and despair trying to convince Dean not to go through with his plan. First punching his brother, and then clinging to him in desperation, Padalecki’s performance was gut-wrneching and intense and believable as the younger brother fought to reason with his stubborn sibling.
Padalecki is among several heavy hitters vying for the title. Others on the list include Candice Patton as Iris Allen on CW’s The Flash, Katie Cassidy Rogers as Laurel Lance/Black Siren on Arrow, and Melissa Benoist as Supergirl on the show of the same name.
