Briana Buckmaster Starts Recording Debut Album!
Briana Buckmaster (you may know her as Sheriff Donna in Supernatural) has just started recording her debut album in Los Angeles! Briana previously launched a Kickstarter for the album in July of 2017.
The album is being produced by Jason Manns, who recently also produced Gil McKinney’s debut EP, which reached #1 on the ITunes Jazz Album charts! Jason has also released solo albums, as well as being a part of The Station Breaks.
Briana has sung at the Supernatural conventions, appears on Louden Swain’s live album Saturday Night Special, singing a cover of “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” by Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks, and Jason Manns’ own Recovering with Friends album, where Briana sings “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James.
The goal for the Kickstarter was set to $20,000 and ended up doubling her goal, with over $40,000 being donated.
Here’s more about the album in Briana’s words from the Kickstarter:
With this project I’m hoping to record a mix of covers and originals influenced by some of my favourite rock and blues singers (maybe some musical theatre for fun…?) This is a journey so the end result is a glorious mystery. But probably not gonna try to cut a punk or polka album any time soon. i’ll leave that to the professionals.
Meeting Jason Manns was the best accident that ever happened to me. Not just because he’s become one of my favourite people in the world but also because he has encouraged me to embrace my voice, my sound, and my dreams by doing this album. Our plan is to record in Vancouver and LA, and over the coming months we’ll have something for you to rock out to in the car, sing along to in the shower, and cry to when you’re feeling righteously peeved.
Briana has been providing updates on the Kickstarter, including that she’s just started recording the album! You can read the updates here!
