Nearly six years after hanging up the cape and cowl, Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy) is returning to the superhero world. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, actress Tessa Thompson confirmed that Bale has been cast in Marvel Studios’ upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder. He is set to play the lead villain, an intergalactic, “otherworldy” alien.
Bale is well-known for his portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan’s iterations of the popular DC character (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises). Most recently, he played Ken Miles in Ford v. Ferrari, starring alongside Matt Damon.
Bale will join Thor alums Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie, Thor: Ragnarok), and Natalie Portman (Jane Foster). Taika Waititi will return as writer and director for the movie.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to release in theaters November 5, 2021.
