There is a new behind the scenes documentary from Crunchyroll called How is a NENDOROID Made? Behind the Scenes at Good Smile Company. The 33-minute video was shot in Japan at the Good Smile Company’s Tokyo office and the factory in Tottori.

During the documentary, the planning and prototype stages are showcased, including the newest release — a Raphtalia Nendoroid from The Rising of the Shield Hero from Crunchyroll. In the video, we hear from Aki Takanori, the President and CEO of Good Smile Company, and learn that the company began as a talent agency before getting into the hobby industry and flourishing. Throughout the documentary, we see the many stages that go into planning and the production of the collectible figurines — beginning from spec sheets, painting, face design, licensing, molds, prototypes, and more. It is fascinating to see what goes into the creation of these fantastic figurines.

You can watch the documentary on the Crunchyroll website, the Crunchyroll YouTube channel, and below. If you are wondering how you can get a Raphtalia Nendoroid, you can purchase one here.
