TRON Coaster Timeline on Track as Walt Disney World Lays Final Piece

It was back in the summer of 2017 that we first shared the news that Walt Disney World would be getting the same Tron Lightcycle Power Run coaster that Shanghai Disneyland opened in 2016, and in 2018 Nerds covered the announcement that TRON would find its home in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland.

Now, in 2019, TRON is making headlines again after Disney Imagineering announced the lowering of the final track piece into place.

This is great news, as Disney announced two years ago that TRON was expected to open in 2021, just in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. With the ride track completed, the attraction is still on schedule to become Tomorrowland’s newest coaster — one that even TIME had a geek-out over.

Though Walt Disney World is calling the Orlando attraction TRON Lightcycle/Run (as opposed to Shanghai’s TRON Lightcycle Power Run), the newest Disneyland park paints a pretty picture of what is sure to be a similar ride:

“Traverse TRON’s electrifying multi-sensory environment as you speed, dip and dive through digitized darkness on one of the fastest indoor roller coasters in Disney theme park history.”

Things to Be Thankful For: Taylor Swift, Queen of Our Hearts

As an Australian, Thanksgiving is mostly seen from the lens of American screens, those small or rather large boxes, respectively bringing the tradition to life through a narrative. These narratives feature a few key ingredients: first, there are the secrets about to be spilled by a blabbermouth who’s wanting to up the drama (we’re looking at Gossip Girl herself here.) The second is the smell of gas leading to some lives most likely in danger all before the turkey is even stuffed, and then there’s the final and perhaps most crucial ingredient, the essence. No matter how thick the plot is, it’s a time of being thankful for what we hold dear to our hearts and again, as anyone who knows me, that’s a guitar strumming, cat-loving, glitterfied global superstar who would much rather bake cookies than hang out at a club. Yes, the Taylor Swift.

Swift’s had what some could say a tumultuous year full of a kaleidoscope of memories; just this week, she broke yet another record by surpassing Michael Jackson’s record for the highest amount of wins at the American Music Awards. Then, there are the highly publicized downfalls. This year, her life came full circle when she recorded a song with one of her favorite high school bands, The Dixie Chicks, about her mother’s cancer, and then, of course, there’s the ongoing battle to gain the rights for her discography. Nevertheless, no matter if she’s at the height of her game or toasting her real friends amid a fading reputation, she’s always held the world captive through her utter grace and resilience. It is not hard to see the reasons why she has the fanbase she does, infamously known as Swifties, but why not name a few?

This one’s a given, so I’ve decided to talk about it first; there’s always been a certain difference in Swift’s writing that can’t be compared to other artists in her field. It’s like reading the starting pages of a really good book and immediately identifying yourself within the prose across its pages. The characters who, while maybe living out lives unlike our own, still have traits we can see within ourselves. It’s in the metaphors, the callbacks to rain and the various states of who she’s been across the years, that we’re able to have that collective moment of ‘ah, she’s one of us.’

Charitable to a Fault

We’ve all heard the saying ‘randoms acts of kindness,’ but if the dictionary were to put a face to the phrase, then we’d be met with a black and white grainy photograph of Swift. She’s generously paid for a fan’s college tuition fee, started the yearly tradition of #Swiftmas, where she turns into her own version of Mrs. Claus (having grown up on a Christmas farm it just makes sense), and has spoken up for LGBTQ+ rights. Her heart knows no bounds, and it’s just there shining on her sleeve for everyone to see.

Eye for Detail

In the Swift concert bank is the minute a violin began to play, and the stage before us fell into what could have assumed to be an opera show, slipping away from the usual aesthetics of a country turned into pop concert and into something much more intimate and special. No matter where you joined her on the journey or which concert was the first you went to, there will be a time where everything around you fades away, and you’re just in awe.

Kill em’ with Kindness

She’s obviously had her fair share of feuds. First, there was the Kanye debacle, and then in most recent times an effort to legally win back the rights to her first six albums. However, within the bad blood and effort to shake it off, every step of the way she’s tried to play fairly with an added attitude of knowing she won’t back down from her flaming self-respect.

Devotion to Fans

Courtesy of 1989 Secret Sessions

If we think really hard on it, then we can hazily remember a time when her name wasn’t floating around households but was held for a certain few, in fact, a fair amount of few who lined up over thirteen hours as she met and greeted every single one. While the fans are now in drones making it incredibly hard to see everybody, she still does what she can through secret sessions and liking fans’ posts on Tumblr. She’s not just a musician but that really cool friend who gives you awesome advice and an adjacent playlist to help you get over the person you once thought would’ve stayed around for a lifetime.

Spice of Sarcasm

Courtesy of Saturday Night Live

There is no denying that Swift could very well be the smartest person in the room even if she makes it a point to surround herself with people who make her grow, but as a side effect, it comes with a dosage of sarcasm. Her humor is infectious. While there might be a slight punch to it, cough Blank Space, she knows how to deliver it by making everyone fall victim to her charm.

Love Lessons 101

Courtesy of 1989 World tour

While some may tune into romantic comedies to be cast away to the lasting sentiments of a fairytale love story, Swift’s always provided an insight into the types of romantic tales that are tumultuous, spellbinding, and ever so real. All love isn’t meant to last, that’s a given, but if you don’t fall casualty to the idea that you won’t be able to find the feeling again in someone else, then the magic may creep back without you really noticing. And isn’t that the theme Swift preaches?

She’s the Girl You Want in Your Corner

Above all else, she’s the girl who will forever be loyal and stick to your side like some sort of superglue. Whether there are polaroids on the hardwood floors after a fourth of July gathering or casually watching Grease for the umpteenth time while belting out the lyrics, you have a friend for life.

What the Fork? Funko Adding Pop! Figures From ‘The Good Place’ Soon

0

This news is how we know we’re not in the Bad Place. Funko announced today that our favorite cockroaches would soon be easily displayed on our shelves!

The line will include the full main cast of characters, Michael, Janet, Eleanor Shellstrop, Chidi Anagonye, Tahani Al-Jamil, and Jason Mendoza. Today’s Funko blog post showed a truly adorable selection, from Chidi with his trusty philosophy book to Janet holding a cactus. Unfortunately, there is no release date set as of now.

The Good Place is an American sitcom following the misadventures of a demon, a sentient database, and four humans as they navigate the afterlife. It will resume airing new episodes of their final season on January 9, 2020, at 8:30/7:30c on NBC.

Disneyland Celebrates 65th Anniversary with Snow White Ride Refurbishment

0

For the first time since reopening under a new name and updated technology in the 1980s, Snow White’s Scary Adventures at Disneyland Resort is about to receive some major enhancements in time for the ride’s – and the park’s – 65th anniversary in 2020.

According to Disney Parks Blog:

“In addition to experiencing familiar elements of the attraction you know and love, you’ll discover enhanced story details and all-new scenes. For example, a new vignette will show Snow White in a beautiful forest setting waking up from her deep sleep. Also, the attraction will conclude when Snow White is reunited with her animal friends, and a shimmering castle is seen in the distance.”

This is obviously a big step for Disney’s Imagineers. Besides standing as Disneyland’s only princess dark ride, Snow White was also Disney’s very first princess and the heroine of the world’s first full-length animated feature.

The ride itself is a classic dark ride that has been a part of Disneyland since the park first opened in 1955, and is also available to experience at Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris. The Walt Disney World attraction was closed in 2012, but guests can still spot Snow White in the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster located within the park’s New Fantasyland expansion.

Enjoy a final ride through Snow White’s Scary Adventures before the attraction closes for its scheduled refurbishment on Monday, January 6, 2020.

Things to Be Thankful For: The Three Dubbed “R2M” – Rob Benedict, Richard Speight, Jr., and Matt Cohen

© Liz Larson, Staff Photographer

For those of us in the United States, today marks one of the biggest holidays of the year: Thanksgiving. It’s a time to spend with families, eat a hefty amount of food, argue with your family over the football games, and share what you’re thankful for. Join us as we give thanks to our favorite trio, lovingly dubbed R2M: Rob Benedict, Richard Speight, Jr., and Matt Cohen.

The three are friends and part of the Supernatural universe, often doing panels together at Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural conventions. So, we’re here to say thanks to these three lovable, chaotic people this Thanksgiving with a list of things we’re thankful for below.

“RICH!”

There’s nothing quite like hearing Rob yell “RICH!” in a perfect moment of annoyance. I think Rich revels in it. It’s a great Rob catchphrase, and fans alike adore it.

“DickChat” and Rob’s Annoyance

If there’s one thing Rob hates the most, you can bet it’s Speight’s “DickChat” — in fact, there’s a whole video of Rob’s annoyance documented. Speight used to go around and take Snapchat videos at various Supernatural conventions, and it was one of his main goals to annoy his best friend. Mission accomplished.

Richard Speight, Jr.’s Impression of Rob

Richard Speight, Jr. and Rob Benedict are BFFs, that’s no secret. And, if you’ve been to a convention, you’ll probably have heard Rich’s impression of Rob. Since the two are so close, Rich has nearly perfected his impression — and always has everyone laughing, including Benedict himself.

Air Matt

It’s well known that if you attend a panel at a Supernatural convention, every panel is introduced with a song. For R2M, it’s “Three Is A Magic Number” from Schoolhouse Rock. The song ends with an epic high-flying kick from one Mr. Cohen, to which we’re surprised he hasn’t had knee injuries yet.

“Bobbo!”

Rich is famous among the fandom for yelling the phrase “Bobbo!” It’s really fun to watch a question aimed at Rich, and Rich turning to Rob to answer it, exclaiming the phrase. Trust us, once you hear it, you’ll never stop looking for it in every single panel video.

Rich’s Power Squats

Need we say more?

Matt’s Chaotic Karaoke

We mean chaotic in the best way. Since Matt has taken over, Karaoke is not slowing down. There’s dancing, selfies, sometimes props and costumes, and more. It’s the best part of Friday nights. Plus, seeing Matt singing songs like Taylor Swift is a highlight.

There’s so many other things we’re grateful for, but we couldn’t keep this list going forever (I mean, we could … but that’s a lot!) While we had fun in the post above, the truth is we’re really grateful for all three of these men: their hard work, their dedication to their fans, and their kind hearts which make all of us fans of them. Thank you to the three of them for allowing us to have fun articles like this and the ‘R2M and Beyond’ April Fools Series, and more and being good sports about it!

Things to Be Thankful For: The Mandalorian, Our Bounty Hunting Space Dad

0

For some, today is but a Thursday at the end of November, and for others, it’s Thanksgiving. No matter if you’re currently in stage three of a turkey-induced haze, sneaking off to the kitchen to pilfer snacks while the rest of your family is distracted by the football game, or just getting through another regular old day … join us as we give thanks to our favorite Bounty Hunting Accidental Space Dad who hails from a galaxy far, far away — the Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian, Disney+’s hit new series that premiered with the streaming service a couple of weeks ago, follows the story of a lone bounty hunter (who is portrayed by the talented Pedro Pascal.) Our main character’s name has not yet been canonically confirmed in the show itself, but Pascal may or may not have let something along the lines of “Dyn Jarren” slip in an interview (throw us a bone, Lucasfilm, inquiring minds need answers!). For now, other characters have referred to him as the Mandalorian or Mando.

There are plenty of reasons to be thankful for Star Wars‘ coolest new character, so in the spirit of today’s holiday we’ll review some of the best.

The Voice

Courtesy of Lucasfilm/Disney.

Let’s just get this out of the way, because we’re all thinking it and there’s absolutely no denying it … that voice. Star Wars fans are certainly no strangers to masked characters, especially those in lead roles like that of Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. But there’s just something about the Mandalorian’s voice in particular. Is it the added level of clarity? The sassiness laced with vulnerability? The overall relatable nature? Pedro Pascal just being … Pedro Pascal? All of the above, honestly.

The Sass

Courtesy of Lucasfilm/Disney.

Let’s come back to that sass — Hire One Bounty Hunter, Get A Lifetime’s Worth of Sass Free! We’re but three episodes in and few have made it through a conversation with the Mandalorian unscathed by some sort of a sharp, witty, or humorous remark from him. “I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold,” “I like those odds,” “You understand THIS?” (cue flamethrower), and essentially the entire script of his interactions with the short-lived droid IG-11, to name a few. Bounty hunting is a complicated profession, and we respect the Mandalorian for keeping things interesting.

A Hardworking, Multi-Tasking Dad

Courtesy of Lucasfilm/Disney.

I’m sorry, he did what now? That’s right. The Mandalorian stormed the facility that had hired him to capture Baby Yoda in the first place, rescued his tiny green son, and cradled him delicately in one arm while destroying every single stormtrooper in the building with his free hand. We love a multi-tasking space dad and that’s the tea.

Literally the #1 Jawa Fan in the Galaxy

Courtesy of Lucasfilm/Disney.

It’s been a long day at the office and you come home to find that a sandcrawler full of Jawas has looted your ship for all that’s it’s worth. What do you do? Cut your losses and call it a day? Well if you’re the Mandalorian, clearly the best option is to attack their giant vehicle with your bare hands, disintegrate a few of them, very gracefully get dumped off the transport, and waltz back over to their campsite the next day to sort of make peace (and maybe, possibly threaten them with a flamethrower). This man is clearly a diplomat in the works.

A Posterboy of Character Development

Courtesy of Lucasfilm/Disney.

I’m sorry, but “That’s not a toy” can’t come to the phone right now, Baby Yoda’s New Dad is in the house (the ship?) In the span of a single episode, we went from heartbroken as he left the child, hopeful as he reached a moment of inner turmoil, and finally victorious as he handed the ball knob over to his tiny new co-pilot. We know that he’s an infamous bounty hunter, a profession which is bound to the Code of the Guild, and we can only assume that this is something he previously followed with a blind, unfeeling faith in order to “get the job done” and ultimately bring the rewards back to his clan. And yet … for the child, he falters.

Kicks Ass, Gets His Ass Kicked (all in a day’s work!)

Courtesy of Lucasfilm/Disney.

Listen, nobody is perfect. Mess with his small green floating space pod child? You’re toast. Literally disintegrated. He’ll take out an entire team of stormtroopers all while cradling a cooing baby in his arms. But put him up against a rowdy blurgg, a pack of Jawas, or an angry mudhorn? He may or may not find himself lying face up in the dirt, questioning all of his life decisions. The Mandalorian isn’t invincible, but he’s definitely fearless, which is an admirable trait that makes him a truly fascinating character.

So thank you, Jon Favreau, for bringing us this incredible new Star Wars series with a brand spankin’ new bounty hunter that’s essentially the best thing since sliced bread. Do they even have sliced bread in space? Who knows.

Catch the next episode of The Mandalorian this Friday, November 29, exclusively on Disney+.

‘9-1-1’ Recap: Season 3, Episode 9 “Fallout”

0

After a short break, the 118 is back! Following the events of the last episode, Hen is still struggling to cope with what happened after the ambulance accident, while an old friend reaches out to Maddie in a cry for help. The 118 also respond to a call that may change the life of one of their own.

Keep reading to find out what happened on the newest episode of 9-1-1, “Fallout.”

Hen is talking to a therapist, Frank, telling him every time she closes her eyes, she sees Evelyn’s face, reliving that moment. The previous night was like she crashed into her in slow motion, her injuries happening while the car crumbled around her. Eddie is also talking to Frank, trying to contain some anger that is continually building up inside him. Eddie tells him he has these good moments, like saving someone from dying or Christopher doing something awesome. It’s moments where he should be happy, proud or both. He knows it. He just doesn’t feel it. Frank tells him there’s no one right way to deal with trauma. All the first responders he counsels process it differently, yet they all ask the same questions and press the same buttons. Maddie is now talking to Frank, telling him that she used to find therapy helpful. After Doug died, she did it all: talk, group therapy, and cognitive processing. She spent six months just talking about her feelings.

Frank says nothing helped her because she’s still sitting in the chair. Jumping between them all, Eddie tells Frank that he would rather be at home with his kid, enjoying the one good thing he has left. Frank wants to know why he keeps coming back. Maddie tells Frank she was ordered by her boss; Hen says she knows she needs help to process everything; Eddie tells Frank he doesn’t want his kid to be like him. Christopher is always this happy and open kid, ready to share every thought in his head. But he was in pain and felt like he had to hide that from Eddie and pretend he was okay. He doesn’t want that for him. Maddie tells Frank that she violated Department policy, violated a woman’s trust, and she’s sorry. Eddie says he almost killed a guy with his bare hands, while Hen says she killed a young girl in the prime of her life. Maddie says she survived, and Doug didn’t.

Hen is back at the station, trying to process everything with the investigation, looking through the papers. Bobby tells her it wasn’t her fault. System logs show that she pushed the button for the traffic light. Her light was green when she entered the intersection. Evelyn’s light never changed. It was the circuit board on the streetlamp; one of the relays was fried. Hen did everything right. Hen tells Bobby that the girl is still dead. Bobby tells Hen it’s not because of her. Hen says she’s the one that drove into her. He can show her a million pieces of paper that say it’s not her fault, but it’s still going to feel like it is. Bobby tells her it was an accident, she’s been cleared by the Department, and she can return to duty whenever she is ready. Hen says she doesn’t know when she can come back. She is going away for a few days with Karen; she’s going to need some time. Bobby tells her to take as much time as she needs; they’ll be there when she’s ready.

Maddie is back at the call center and receives a call from Tara on her cell phone. Tara is frantic and sobbing, telling Maddie she doesn’t know what to do. She asks Maddie if she can come over and that Maddie is right. Tara tells Maddie she really needs her help. Maddie assures her she’s on her way. Maddie gets to Tara’s house, and when Tara opens the door, her face is badly beaten and is shaking. Tara tells Maddie she and Vincent fought, and he came after her. Tara reveals a gun, saying he was so mad. She didn’t have a choice. Tara tells Maddie she thought she had killed him, but he’s still alive. Vincent is on the floor, bleeding to death. Maddie pulls out her phone to call 911, but Tara takes it away from her, saying she can’t; that’s why she called her. Tara tells Maddie he can’t die; she can’t think straight. Maddie takes a knife and alcohol, telling Tara she’s saving him. Tara tells Maddie it was self-defense, and Maddie says she will tell herself that a million times, but it never gets better. Maddie killed her husband and wished she didn’t. She killed someone she used to love and will never be completely free of that. Maddie gets Vincent conscious and has Tara call 911.

Buck is at the hospital with Maddie, who isn’t talking much. Buck tells her she saved a guy’s life, one who seriously did not deserve it. Maddie tells him nobody deserves to die. The police officer, Williams, tells Maddie she can go home. He tells her that detectives talked to Vincent before he went into surgery and said he shot himself by accident. Buck says he doesn’t get it; why would Vincent lie for Tara? Tara finds Maddie, telling her she’s so glad she’s still there; she wanted to thank her. Maddie asks Tara what’s going on. Tara admits Vincent could forgive her if she could forgive him, and they could make things work. She tells Maddie it could be different now; they can be different, he promised. Tara leaves, and Buck asks Maddie if she wants to stick around in case Tara needs her, and Maddie says no, she can’t help her anymore.

Buck is hanging out at Eddie and Christopher’s place. Buck tells Eddie what happened with Maddie, Tara, and Vincent. Saying that the situation is rough on Maddie, she thought she could save Tara from Vincent, but now she realizes that you can’t save someone from themselves, not if they don’t want it.

“Especially if you aren’t around to see they need saving.”

Buck apologizes to Eddie for not being there. They needed him, and he had his head so far up his own issues with that stupid lawsuit. Eddie tells him they’re way past that, but Buck says he’s not. He should’ve been there. Maybe he could’ve talked some sense into Eddie. Buck tells Eddie not to buy that truck, and Eddie tells him he would’ve talked him into buying something more expensive. Eddie says things got a little out of hand for both of them and to not beat himself up about it. Buck asks him why; because he’d rather do it? Buck tells Eddie if he’s not honest with Frank, at least be honest with him. Eddie wants to know who said he wasn’t honest with Frank, and Buck says that Frank said the two of them weren’t clicking. Eddie says maybe he’s just not a therapy kind of guy. Christopher watches Eddie and Buck play video games, Eddie telling Buck this is his kind of therapy.

Hen and Karen meet with a life coach, Stacy, whom Hen saved. Karen asks her if she saw anything during her near-death experience, and Stacy says nothing supernatural, but she has seen things. Six years ago, she saw her daughter walk down the aisle; four years ago, she saw her first grandchild and last year, her second. She’s seen the world, visited everyone who mattered to her, and told everyone how much she loves them. Stacy tells them every day. She wakes up grateful for her second chance. She’s grateful to God, but most of all, she’s grateful to Hen. Stacy thanks Hen for saving her life.

Two guys are driving an industrial recycling truck. They stop to get gas, and one of them, Ernest, checks the cargo in the back. He notices a bin that has a “Radioactive” label. As the guys drive away in the truck, they come across a tunnel with construction workers. Ernest doesn’t notice them at first, but when he does, he tries to swerve out of the way, crashing in the tunnel; another truck crashes into them, creating a fire.

A bystander calls 911, telling dispatchers that two trucks just collided in the tunnel, are on fire, and are filling up with smoke. The caller is helping the drivers when he notices a combustible sign on the burning truck. Josh tells everyone to initiate traffic rerouting to the area around the tunnel. They’re not taking any chances until they know exactly what’s burning in there. The caller tells Maddie the fire is white.

The 118 get inside the tunnel. Bobby tells Chim he’s got the guy on the ground while Eddie and Buck check the driver. Bobby requests a liquid nitrogen truck to be dispatched to the scene to help contain the magnesium fire. Chim starts compressions on Ankush. Meanwhile, Buck and Eddie are trying to get Ernest out of the truck. Ernest tells them they have to get out of there since the magnesium is burning. He tells Bobby there’s also Cobalt-60 in the back of the truck, radioactive waste. Bobby tells Eddie and Buck that hazmat and nitrogen will be there any minute, and he needs them out there when they land. Bobby will stay with Ernest and get him out of there. Once outside the tunnel, Chim tells Buck and Eddie that hazmat and nitrogen have been delayed, and too many cars are trying to evacuate downtown. Buck tells Bobby that he and Eddie are returning to him, but Bobby says the cobalt has ignited; they’re at gamma radiation levels. Bobby is trying to pry the doors off the truck to get Ernest out while also trying to contain the fire. Hazmat and nitrogen finally get to the scene going into the tunnel and containing the fire.

They manage to get Ernest out, and Chim tells him that Ankush is stable and headed to the hospital. Bobby is getting cleaned off at a chemical tent, hoping he’s not infected. At the hospital, the doctor tells Bobby and Athena that Bobby’s heart function looks good, and the other tests show mostly good news; no enlargement of the thyroid, chest X-rays are clear, and his lungs don’t appear to have suffered any ill effects from the exposure. The doctor says the urine test showed trace amounts of cobalt, not high, just elevated. He’s concerned, but he’s also cautious by nature. Bobby says they won’t worry until there’s something to worry about. He tells Athena he had to slow down that fire, and the only way he could was to get in the path of the smoke; he had no choice.

The episode ends with Maddie returning to therapy to talk about how she really feels about killing Doug, and Hen returns to Station 118, officially.

Next week’s fall finale is going to be a Christmas episode, so it will be interesting to see what happens. 9-1-1 airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on FOX.

Things to Be Thankful For: Thank Heavens for Chris Evans

It’s Thanksgiving here in the United States and that means a few things — lots of food, football, and probably some family members you’d prefer to avoid. It’s also about giving thanks. So, allow us to give you a reason to sneak off to the bathroom so you can peruse our Thanksgiving dedication to the one, the only, Chris Evans.

Chris Evans is … the best? Is there any other way to put it? He had a big year in 2019 — his Marvel swan song Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing film of all time, he filmed a new TV series Defending Jacob for Apple TV+ (release date is still unknown), and he’s got a new little something that hit theaters yesterday, the critically acclaimed murder/mystery Knives Out from Rian Johnson (another great way to escape the family, take them to see it!). But those are just movies. And while we enjoy them, that’s not all that we’re thankful for — so what are we writing an ode to gratitude to?

The Left Pec Grab

We’re starting with a big one. The left pec grab. Now, the man laughs with his entire body (it’s infectious), and it’s always great, but that left pec grab is just the crown jewel. We love a pure, wholeheartedly joyous individual that can spread his happiness like wildflowers. If you’re ever having a bad day, watch some Evans press junkets and try not to let it cheer you up, it’s almost impossible.

Dodger

That’s right, we’re thankful for Dodger. Not Dodger pictures — Dodger himself. The lion tamer, push-up hinderer, Chris Evans’ BFF, that rescue dog that stole the hearts of millions back in 2017, Dodger. He’s basically the internet’s dog now, and we’re forever indebted to his owner for continuing to share him with his many adoring fans (Dodger’s fans, obviously. Chris who?).

Sweaters

I almost need to say no more. The man has an impeccable collection of sweaters, and he’s not afraid to don them like he’s ready for Christmas dinner at the drop of a Red Sox baseball cap. The blue one, the fluffier blue one, his infamous Knives Out cable knit, that gray, white, and maroon intricately patterned one … sweaters. Basically, we’re thankful for a fluffy man in equally as fluffy clothes.

#1 Guacardo Advocate

Poor Guacardo, he can’t catch a break … that is until he met Chris Evans. We forgive him for his dislike of avocado solely for the softhearted approach he took to Guacardo and his … anatomy. His tender embrace and concern for the “not a butt” butt of this plush avocado swept the internet off its metaphorical feet, as if we needed another reason to think he’s the greatest.

His Old Headshots

I mean … he willingly shared these. There’s an entire series. That’s what he gave us for his birthday this year. Could there have been a better gift? What did we ever do to deserve this? The velour Sean John track suit may not have been the best decision, but we think you’re doing great these days, Chris.

Chivalry Isn’t Dead

image courtesy of The People’s Choice Awards

Cue dramatic pining sigh. Was this not one of the sweetest exchanges? Don’t lie, you pictured him helping your own grandmother up the steps and your heart soared as high as an eagle for just a moment. He didn’t have to do this, he just does it. It’s who he is, and we love him for it. A lot.

He did it again at the 2019 Oscars, too. Chivalry isn’t dead, and Chris Evans is here to prove it.

His Dancing

Image courtesy of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’

Is it great? Or is it so bad it’s incredible? We’ll let you be the judge. However, if you need a little more evidence than the above gif, attached below is his dance-off with Elizabeth Olsen from The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He’s got moves, and he clearly has a great time taking them out to the discotheque, even if he has to make that discotheque himself. We’d dance with you anywhere and everywhere Cevans, just name the place and time.

That He’s an All Around Good Guy

Chris Evans is just a great guy. Whether he’s petitioning for one of his charities of choice (Christopher’s Haven is one of his favorites), posting his favorite excerpts from Hermann Hesse, proudly boasting his love of Disney and ice cream (Brigham’s, duh), or motivating people to go and vote, he’s made it very clear he’s more than just an actor. He’s using the platform he’s been given and taken an active interest in making the world a better place, any way he can, and for that we are forever grateful. And speaking of gratitude, while we could have continued on for miles, we’ll leave you with one of our favorite Evans quotes from his interview with Evolve by Lindsey. Happy Thanksgiving and thank heavens for Chris Evans!

Grateful is like one degree away from happiness, it really is.
