Back in July 2022, Wednesday Books, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers, revealed that an exciting new YA horror anthology is on the way: Night of the Living Queers. Now, it has a release date and cover! The book is set to release on August 29, just in time to start getting into those spooky vibes.

The cover features five teens outside a gate that bars entry into what seems to be a rather expansive estate. Its cool colors set the tone of the anthology with a bold title font and color to accompany it. The cover was designed by Olga Grlic and illustrated by Colin Verdi. Check it out below:

Night of the Living Queers consists of stories written exclusively by queer authors of color who bring fresh takes on familiar horror tropes. The whole collection is set during a blue moon on Halloween night and “explores a night when anything is possible.” It will feature stories about a girl who sheds her skin and leaves it behind (Ayida Shonibar), a story with “bi, Hotel California vibes” titled “Welcome to Hotel Paranoia” (Vanessa Montalban), a story featuring “queer nonbinary Fil-Am rage and joy and magic” (Maya Gittelman), and much more.

Featured authors include Gittelman, Shonibar, Montalban, Kalynn Bayron, Ryan Douglass, Sara Farizan, Kosoko Jackson, Em Liu, Tara Sim, Trang Thanh Tran, and Rebecca Kim Wells. It was edited by Shelly Page and Alex Brown.

Night of the Living Queers releases on August 29. Make sure to pre-order your copy here.
