Danai Gurira Confirms Pre-Production on Rick Grimes and Michonne Spin-Off Has Begun

Today, Danai Gurira confirmed that pre-production is underway on the upcoming Richonne spin-off has begun with a series of Instagram photos.

The photos include Gurira, Andrew Lincoln, and The Walking Dead Chief Content Officer, Scott M. Gimple, who is acting as showrunner for the series.

The untitled limited series will follow the titular duo who get into another world, built on a war against the dead, and ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?

Lincoln and Gurira will serve as executive producers. The series will launch with six episodes in 2023.
