Daisy Edgar-Jones will play the legendary Carole King in a new film adaptation of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical! Edgar-Jones was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Brenda Lafferty in Under the Banner of Heaven (her second nomination after Normal People).

The biographical show featuring King’s hit songs ran on Broadway from 2014-19, with original star Jessie Mueller winning a Tony Award for her performance as King. The film adaptation will be directed by Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right), who will co-write the script alongside Stuart Blumberg. There is no word yet on a release date for the project.
