Apple TV+ Expands ‘Mythic Quest’ With New Series ‘Mere Mortals’

There’s still more to come from the world of Mythic Quest.

Today, Apple TV+ announced that its hit workplace comedy will be expanding its universe of beloved characters with an eight-episode extension series, Mere Mortals.

Mythic Quest, which is currently in its third season, follows a group of video game developers tasked with building worlds, molding heroes and creating legends, but the most hard-fought battles don’t occur in the game — they happen in the office. Read our season 3 review here.

Since its first season, Mythic Quest has given audiences a handful of acclaimed departure episodes that veer off from the main story, beginning with the beloved “A Dark Quiet Death” from season 1, which was led by guest stars Jake Johnson and Cristin Milioti. Others include “Backstory!” and tomorrow’s upcoming episode, “Sarian.” In addition to other unique ones like “Mythic Quest: Quarantine” and “Everlight,” Mere Mortals will take a page from these episodes and explore the lives of employees, players and fans who are impacted by the game.

Mere Mortals will be written by Mythic Quest star Ashly Burch (Rachel), John Howell Harris and Katie McElhenney. All three currently serve as writers on the main series, and notably, McElhenney wrote “Sarian” and “A Dark Quiet Death,” and Burch wrote “Everlight.” Megan Ganz, Rob McElhenney, David Hornsby and Charlie Day serve as executive producers. The series will be produced for Apple TV+ by Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment and Ubisoft.

Catch new episodes of Mythic Quest exclusively on Apple TV+ on Fridays. The series received a joint renewal for both seasons 3 and 4 last fall.
