Pedro Almodóvar’s gay western shot, Strange Way of Life (Extraña Forma de Vida), is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May the director revealed on Dua Lipa’s podcast, At Your Service.

The 30-minute short film stars Ethan Hawke as Sherriff Jake and Pedro Pascal as the gunslinger Silva who reunite after 25 years apart. Silva sets off on a ride to rekindle his former friendship with the Sheriff of Bitter Creek, who tells Silva the following morning that there’s more to his visit than he claims.

“What I can tell you about the film is that it has a lot of the elements of the Western — it has the gunslinger, it has the ranch, it has the sheriff — but what it has that most Westerns don’t have is the kind of dialogue that I don’t think a Western film has ever captured between two men. And now I think I’m telling you a little bit too much.”
