Showrunner Steve Blackman took to social media to reveal the title for the premiere episode of The Umbrella Academy‘s final season.

The episode is somewhat eerily titled “The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want” and was written by Blackman and Jesse McKeown. The Umbrella Academy is based on the comics of the same name created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. However, for season 4, the showrunners are taking complete creative control as the comics have only been published up through volume three with Hotel Oblivion.

It was announced earlier this year that the fourth season would be the final showdown for the ragtag group of anti-heroes who have saved the world from disasters of their own creation three times. Season 3 left off on a cliffhanger, with the Hargreeves emerging from Hotel Oblivion powerless into an entirely new reality, one that Sir Reginald Hargreeves had a large hand in creating. The post-credits scene offered even more questions as what seemed to be an entirely different version of Ben was sitting on the subway, teasing the Hargreeves having to deal with a few doppelgängers in this brand-new world.

Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy has no set release date, but following the release schedule of the previous three seasons, a good betting place would be sometime in 2024.
