Netflix has released the remaining cast members for its upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender series. This announcement was worth the wait! These amazingly talented cast members join an already impressive lineup.
First up, as the intimidating bounty hunter June is the fabulous and talented Arden Cho. Bringing to life the terrifying KOH is the legendary George Takei. Finishing up Azula’s trio will be Momona Tamada as Ty Lee and Thalia Tran as Mai. Utkarsh Ambudkar as King Bumi is my favorite casting decision so far in this series. Amber Midthunder will be playing Princess Yue. Bringing to life the morally complex individual only known as The Mechanist will be Danny Pudi. Last but certainly not least, the Cabbage Merchant himself, James Sie! Sie originally voiced the fan favorite merchant in the original Nickelodeon animated show.
Showrunner Albert Kim has been quoted as saying the series will be an opportunity to show Asian and Indigenous characters as living, breathing people. These new actors are joining the already announced cast of Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, and many more. Fans are patiently waiting to see how this series will bring the four nations to life on our television screens. Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for Avatar: The Last Airbender yet, so stay tuned for any updates!
