Generally, moving into a beautiful new house on a seemingly peaceful street should be a blissful affair … but when you get an anonymous letter threatening to spy on you and your family indefinitely, things take a pretty serious twist.

As part of their TUDUM: A Global Fan Event releases, Netflix has delivered an official trailer for their upcoming series The Watcher. You can become a watcher yourself by checking out the trailer below.

Based on a shocking true story, The Watcher follows the Braddock family as they move into their dream home in a seemingly quiet and safe suburban neighborhood. Quiet and safe isn’t quite the case, however, as the family begins to receive ominous letters from a person calling themself “the Watcher”. The anonymous penman claims to be keeping a close eye on both the house and its new inhabitants. The neighborhood’s skeletons quickly come toppling out of closets as the Braddocks constantly look over their shoulders as they wait for “the Watcher” to strike.

The series is led by Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale, and showcases a star-studded cast including Mia Farrow, Noma Dumezweni, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, Terry Kinney, Margo Martindale and Jennifer Coolidge, to name a few. The series is co-created by American Horror Story auteur Ryan Murphy and frequent collaborator Ian Brennan.

The Watcher is also based on a true, as-yet-unsolved case about the real-life family who moved into 657 Boulevard in Westfield, New Jersey, and began receiving threatening letters from a stalker.

The Watcher premieres on Netflix October 13, 2022.
