Bestselling YA author Angie Thomas has announced her next book and revealed its cover! In April 2023, readers will be able to get their hands on Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Manifestor Prophecy, the first book in a middle grade fantasy trilogy that also marks Thomas’ first book in the MG space. While there’s still quite a bit of time left before its release, the book is already available for pre-order.

The book will follow its title character Nic Blake, a girl who embarks on a magical adventure with two of her friends (and yes, she IS named after Nic Stone). The full synopsis, per HarperCollins, reads:

It’s not easy being a Remarkable in the Unremarkable world. Some things are cool—like getting a pet hellhound for your twelfth birthday. Others, not so much—like not being trusted to learn magic because you might use it to take revenge on an annoying neighbor.

All Nic Blake wants is to be a powerful Manifestor like her dad. But before she has a chance to convince him to teach her the gift, a series of shocking revelations and terrifying events launch Nic and two friends on a hunt for a powerful magic tool she’s never heard of … to save her father from imprisonment for a crime she refuses to believe he committed.

Nic Blake marks the fourth solo book from Thomas, following The Hate U Give, THUG’s prequel Concrete Rose, and On the Come Up, whose film adaptation releases in September. In June of last year, she co-authored Blackout with five other authors, all of whom are re-teaming for the upcoming book Whiteout releasing this November.

Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Manifestor Prophecy releases on April 4, 2023. Be sure to pre-order and check out the full cover below:
