First Footage From ‘The Last of Us’ HBO Series Revealed

As a part of a teaser video released today detailing snippets of HBO’s various upcoming series, fans were treated to the first video footage of The Mandalorian‘s Pedro Pascal and Game of Thrones‘ Bella Ramsey in the upcoming adaptation of The Last of Us.

The Last of Us, which is based on Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed video game of the same name, takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

Several clips from the show are shown in the video above, including a shot of Nick Offerman’s character, Bill.

In addition to Pascal, Ramsey, and Offerman, the series also stars Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Jeffrey Pierce, Anna Torv, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Woodard, Graham Greene, and Elaine Miles. It was also revealed back in June that Joel and Ellie’s voice actors, Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, are due to make appearances in the show.

Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin serve as co-creators, executive producers, writers and directors for the series. Meanwhile, Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Rose Lam are executive producers, and Kantemir Balagov, Jasmila Žbanić, Ali Abbasi, Peter Hoar, Jeremy Webb, and Liza Johnson are directors.

Those hoping to play the game again or for the first time before the series arrives on HBO can look forward to the upcoming remake for the PlayStation 5, which will be available on September 2.

A release date for The Last of Us has not yet been confirmed.
