Netflix Releases First Look for ‘First Kill’
As part of Geeked Week, a five-day virtual event celebrating Netflix’s genre series, the streamer has released the first look at an eagerly anticipated new series, First Kill.
First Kill is a queer, supernatural love story centered around Juliette and Calliope, a teenage vampire and her all-important first kill — a newcomer to town who turns out to be a vampire hunter.
The official synopsis of the show gives classic, paranormal romance vibes with twist, an extra bite that so many attempts at this genre lack.
“When it comes time for teenage vampire Juliette to make her first kill so she can truly become a member of her powerful vampire family, she sets her mind on the new girl in town, Calliope. But things are about to get complicated, as Juliette discovers that Calliope is a vampire hunter, who hails from a long line of prestigious slayers and is on a quest to kill her first vampire so that she may join her family’s pursuit. The two find that their respective missions and targets are not so simple — and are way too easy to fall for.”
The first look at the show is a minute long clip with emotional impact and a surprisingly hilarious soundtrack. It’s a good look for the upcoming series, perfectly hitting the line between being impactful and not taking itself too seriously.
First Kill is based on a short story written by V. E. Schwab, taken from Vampires Never Get Old: Tales With Fresh Bite.
Sarah Catherine Hook (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) stars as Juliette Fairmont and Imani Lewis (Hightown) will play her love interest, Calliope “Cal” Burns. The cast will also include Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost) and Aubin Wise (Dimland, Hamilton on Broadway) as their mothers, as well as Jason Robert Moore (The Punisher), Gracie Dzienny (Supah Ninjas), Will Swenson (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Phillip Mullings Jr. (American Soul), Dominic Goodman (He’s All That), and newcomer Dylan McNamara.
First Kill is due to be released on June 10, 2022. For more news on the show, don’t forget to follow Nerds and Beyond!
