Disney+ Announces Elton John’s ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ Documentary
Following the success of their recent music documentaries, Disney has announced that Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and the Years That Made His Legend is heading to Disney+.
Deadline reports that Academy Award-nominee R.J. Cutler and filmmaker (and Elton John’s longtime partner) are the driving forces behind the documentary, which will cover over 50 years of concerts.
The documentary will include footage from John’s current ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour,’ including his last few months on the road leading up to his final North American performance at Dodger Stadium in November. Plus, footage from multiple other events, including a London show and some never-before-seen footage ranging from hand-written journals to recent moments with him and his family.
In addition to streaming on Disney+, the film will see a small festival run and limited theatrical release. Although the truly spectacular part of this announcement is the news that Elton John’s final Dodger Stadium performance will be live-streamed on Disney+ for fans everywhere to enjoy.
