The Walker prequel series, Walker: Independence, just got a new cast member! Greg Hovanessian (When Hope Calls) is set to star in The CW pilot alongside Matt Barr.

According to Deadline, who first reported the news, Hovanessian will play Independence Sheriff Tom Davidson. As per his character description, he likes to play with the devil, and Abby “has reason to believe” that Tom is not a good guy. Wanting to take over Abby’s late husband Liam’s job, Tom is “now a smiling power” in the town.

Greg Hovanessian joins previously announced cast members Barr and Justin Johnson Cortez. As TV Insider described the prequel, “Walker: Independence follows Abby Walker, an affluent Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. On her quest for revenge, Abby crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlins, a lovable rogue in search of purpose. Abby and Hoyt’s journey takes them to Independence, Texas, where they encounter diverse, eclectic residents running from their own troubled pasts and chasing their dreams. Our newfound family will struggle with the changing world around them while becoming agents of change themselves in a town where nothing is what it seems.”

Walker star Jared Padalecki is the executive producer and is set to produce the series, with Walker‘s showrunner, Anna Fricke, writing the teleplay alongside Walker‘s co-executive producer, Seamus Kevin Fahey. Larry Teng has also been set to executive produce and direct the pilot.
